A NEW DMZ?

THE NEW DMZ?

I have a question for Arizona Governor Brewer and Senator Kyl, and for NM GOP candidate Susana Martinez. It appears you are trying to create a new DMZ -- a De-Mexicanized Zone -- along the border of our states. I was on the DMZ in Vietnam. From the coast to the border of Laos was just about 30 miles. That line was defended by my unit, the 101st Airborne Division and the 1st Cavalry Division, with hundreds of helicopters like mine, the US Marine Corps, a vast fleet of US Navy jets, and the US Air Force flying B-52 bombers from five hours away to drop more bombs on each airplane's mission than a squadron of B-17s. After almost twenty years and the expenditure of billions of dollars and thousands of lives, we were never able to "secure" that border from crossing by the North Vietnamese, most of whom who were on foot and carrying backpacks of "contraband". The border of Mexico from San Diego to Brownsville is about 1500 miles. Here is my question: Are you really in such a state of ignorance and denial that you think putting a few National Guard weekend warriors waving their M-16s and yelling orders in schoolroom Spanish is going to "secure" that border? Or do you have so little respect for our intelligence that you believe our votes will be influenced by your Republican program of muckraking racial agitation and kneejerk lockstep obstructionism intended to make our President look like nothing more than a stupid minority person who can't even defend our great country from such a pissant pack of pendejos as Mexico?

No, don't answer that question. Of course you're not like that. Isn't the truth that what you really want is only to regain power for your party so you can promote the interests of the corporate oligarchs who pay for your campaigns and so own you, and thereby to enable them to enrich themselves by "supporting the troops" and creating more privatized "prisons for profit" wherein Federal money can be paid to them to house those criminal insurgent invaders from Mexico at $70,000 per year, presumably in Alioto-camp tent cities in pink panties, eating economical meals of marked-down out-of-date bologna, as they so justly deserve?
