Have you ever been grilled by a goon squad? Oh, I mean, “Have you ever been lawfully detained and questioned by a tactical unit of properly-uniformed and well-groomed peace officers acting in accordance with acknowledged public-safety modalities to obtain voluntary compliance while ensuring the safety of the officers?” No? Nor have I, but I suspect it might undermine my sense of patriotism and social cooperativeness in this land of freedom and human rights. If you happened to be shot in the process, do you suppose your survivors would be comforted to know it was done only with the greatest reluctance as a last resort in accordance with Statute 264-A1, in response to the shooter’s partner’s declaration that it appeared you were about to pull an AK-47 from your undershorts, and his dog alerted that he smelled Mexican funkle-spinach on your breath?
END THE WAR ON WETBACKS NOW!
I guess it comes down to trusting people to be professionals. Actually...I HAVE been grilled by military counter intelligence officers over an issue which totally left me befuddled. I can laugh about it now, but at the time it took me a while to try and figure out what what going on. After about a half hour of the agents beating around the bush I finally gave up trying to figure out what they wanted, and said, "Would you just tell me what you have a question about and I will tell you what you want to know." Of course it was a mistake on their part, but yes it was upsetting that they were doubting ME. I knew I hadn't done anything wrong, so I wasn't worried, just miffed that they would doubt me, but at the same time it was good to know that they were actively looking for dishonest individuals.
