Statesmanship Or Just Another Vote?

There is (or ought to be) more to statesmanship than never-ending TV-tabloid smear-campaign elections.

Are you concerned about the upcoming elections in November, and in 2012? Does it matter to you that 49% of the Congress in America are NOT DOING THE JOB THEY WERE ELECTED TO DO, and instead are devoting 100% of their time and energy to getting themselves re-elected by kneejerk lockstep obstructionism and character assassination of the 51% trying to take care of this country's important business? Is there no point at which the voters recognize that holding the office is what is really important, and not just winning elections like TV contests based on insults, patriotic platitudes, and braggadocio?

Or do you think since the GOP always votes as a bloc these days, it really doesn't matter at all what a Republican personally knows or believes, as long as she raises her hand when Mr. Boehner does?

  1. I think the knee-jerk obstructionism is a very serious problem. It's as if an entire party of politicians who are supposed to have this country's best interest at heart (at least as much as their own) have decided to check reason and application of critical thinking at the door. I do hope they don't gain a majority foothold anytime soon, but it seems inevitable if the most recent census is any indication.

  2. The founding fathers built in checks and balances into the legislative process to prevent one point of view from dominating. If the legislation is good for the entire country it will receive bipartisan support. What is the real agenda?

  3. Here we are, roughly 250 years after the fact when our Forefathers had the bright idea of starting a new country with a new idea of government. By all standards of humanity, they did a fine job. And, yes, they established 'flexibility' into our Constitution with the Bill of Rights. It was very wise of them. Now, however, we as a country and people have grown a whole lot since those 'good ole days'. And, frankly, we are in a real mess. This is why I have been so hard at it for the past year or more establishing this web site so we can have a discussion concerning the various aspects of our current lives. And now I would really like to focus on the coming elections in November. There are many other subjects and issues, but this election is going to be so very important that I think it is necessary for us to 'lock & load' on this one event and express ourselves accordingly.
